The Triangle and Other Communities
The “Triangle” area of North Carolina refers to three cities in the central part of the state- Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Each city is home to one of the three main universities in the state. Raleigh has N.C. State University; Chapel Hill has the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (or UNC); and Durham has Duke University. These are three of the top research universities in the South. The Triangle is also home to the Research Triangle Park (RTP) which has experienced remarkable growth in the technology and biomedical sectors and drawn many people from all over the country for its high-end job opportunities. The lower cost of living and quality of life has made the Triangle one of the top places to live in the United States.
Other popular cities and towns around the Triangle include Cary, Morrisville, Apex, and Pittsboro. Cary is known for its record low unemployment rate and popular employers like SAS Institute and Epic Games. Morrisville is a cozy community within a short drive to RTP, offering gorgeous new construction neighborhoods. Apex is a little bit country, and a little bit city. It’s a small town with a big culture and a love for music festivals and craft beer brewing. Pittsboro is a destination for many newcomers with a historic downtown, antique shops, and unique boutiques. Pittsboro’s close proximity to Chapel Hill offers a great option for those who work in Chapel Hill, but want to be a little farther away from the college town life. Nearby counties such as Franklin, Johnston, and Granville are also experiencing monumental growth with remote workers moving to Youngsville and Clayton.
All of these communities have hundreds of established neighborhoods and new construction communities with condominiums, townhomes, and single-family homes ranging from the $200k level to the multi-million dollar level. Some of these neighborhoods offer plentiful amenities with golf and tennis communities as well as swimming pools and hundreds of parks and greenways. Whether you want downtown city living or spacious country living, the Triangle and its surrounding communities have something to offer everyone.
